The Galaxy S25 Edge is essentially an S25+ with the titanium frame and main camera borrowed from the Ultra — but in a sleeker, thinner design. When I first heard that Samsung was reviving the “Edge” name for a new ultra-thin addition to the S25 lineup, my initial reaction was: Why? Honestly, I assumed the obsession with ultra-thin phones had faded years ago. That old trend often came at the cost of battery life, added heat, and stripped-down features.

But like fashion, tech trends have a way of coming full circle. After the jump to 5G — which demanded more power-hungry modems and bigger antennas — components are finally shrinking again. That shift has opened the door for slimmer devices to make a comeback. Still, thinness alone doesn’t justify launching an entirely new phone.

Then it clicked. The S25 Edge isn’t just about being thin — it’s Samsung’s attempt to give the “middle child” of its flagship lineup more identity and appeal. And in that context, I think they’ve largely pulled it off.

The Galaxy S25 Edge may come with a few compromises — like a smaller battery and the absence of a telephoto lens — but it’s far more than just a thin and flashy design statement.

    Pros

    • Ultra-sleek, slim profile
    • Durable titanium frame
    • Powerful 200MP main camera
    • Vivid, bright OLED display

    Cons

    • Smallest battery in the S25 lineup
    • No telephoto zoom lens
    • Average wired charging speeds
    • Lacks full Qi2 wireless charging support
    • Priced at $1,100 via Samsung

Let’s be clear — while I’ve always had my reservations about ultra-thin phones sacrificing practicality, the S25 Edge might just be the exception. At an astonishingly thin 5.8mm (0.23 inches), this phone feels like a futuristic blade in your hand. And what’s truly impressive? Samsung hasn’t cut corners on durability.

Just like its Ultra sibling, the Edge sports a titanium frame, boasts an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and is shielded by the tougher Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The only visual change? A glossy screen finish instead of the Ultra’s matte — and that’s because Samsung opted out of using an anti-reflective coating to preserve the phone’s ultra-thin profile.

Love it or not, you’ve got to admire the commitment. From its premium feel to its eye-catching design, the Galaxy S25 Edge is undeniably captivating.

    Galaxy S25 Edge

While the S25 Edge shares a few elements with the Ultra—such as the frame and main camera—it’s actually closer in design to a refreshed version of the S25+ when it comes to size. It sports the same 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering vibrant colors and rich visuals just like its predecessor. However, it’s noticeably lighter, weighing in at just 163 grams (5.75 ounces) compared to the S25+’s 190 grams (6.7 ounces).

    Performance

Just like the rest of the S25 lineup, the Edge runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, paired with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Despite its slim profile, Samsung managed to fit in a vapor chamber to help with heat management. So even during intense gaming or heavy multitasking, the phone stayed cool to the touch and maintained consistently strong performance.

    Cameras

    Cameras

One of the biggest differences from the standard S25+ design is that the Edge comes equipped with the 200MP main sensor borrowed from the Ultra model, paired with a 12MP ultra-wide camera. However, it lacks a dedicated zoom lens. At first, I found this a bit disappointing—phones in this price range should really include a telephoto option. That said, the Edge’s high-resolution sensor gives you a lot of flexibility. You can crop in significantly without losing much image quality—just make sure you switch the camera to full 200MP mode rather than leaving it on the default 12MP setting.

Another small but noteworthy change is the front camera. The Edge features a slightly wider-angle 12MP selfie shooter compared to the S25+ and Ultra, making it easier to fit more people into group selfies. Other than that, the camera setup is pretty similar.

In everyday use, the S25 Edge delivers excellent photos. Colors are vivid and details are sharp, though Samsung’s signature oversaturated look and warm tones are still present. The same holds true for low-light shots—performance is solid across the board.

For this review, rather than comparing the Edge to a Pixel or iPhone, I chose to stack it up against the Motorola Razr Ultra. Both aim to attract users who care about sleek, premium design, but they take very different paths to get there.

    Pixel or iPhone

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Moto Razr Ultra: Camera Comparison

In a test shot featuring roses, the Moto Razr Ultra struggled with focus and produced less vibrant colors. What stood out immediately is that foldable phones—at least in the case of the Razr—still trail behind traditional slab-style smartphones in camera performance. The Galaxy S25 Edge consistently delivered brighter, sharper, and better-exposed photos across nearly every scenario. So, if you’re looking for a compact phone that doesn’t compromise on image quality, the S25 Edge is clearly the better option.

    Battery Life

One major compromise with ultra-thin phones is battery capacity. The Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a 3,900mAh battery—the smallest in the S25 lineup and 100mAh less than the base S25. In our local video playback test, it lasted 25 hours and 59 minutes. While that’s respectable, it falls short of the S25 Ultra’s 29 hours and 27 minutes and even trails the base S25 by about two hours. If long battery life is a top priority for you, keep this trade-off in mind.

    Battery Life

Thankfully, the S25 Edge still supports wireless charging at a decent 15 watts. However, its wired charging speed remains fairly standard at 25 watts. Since the phone is only “Qi2 ready,” those looking to use magnetic wireless accessories will need to purchase a compatible case or adhesive mount with a built-in magnet—there’s no integrated magnet in the phone itself.

    Wrap-up

The S25 Edge is a bit of a mixed bag. I still struggle to understand the push to make smartphones thinner than they already are—especially when most people end up putting them in a case right away (even if it’s Samsung’s ultra-slim version). Shaving off just 1.5mm compared to the regular S25 doesn’t meaningfully change how the phone feels or functions—unless, of course, you see reduced battery life as a bonus.

    Wrap-up

But compared to the rather uninspiring S25+, things suddenly get much more exciting. Samsung’s previous mid-tier model is priced well above the base S25, yet it lacks standout features like an ultra high-resolution main camera or a sleek titanium frame found on the S25 Ultra. Truthfully, the S25+’s most appealing trait is its well-sized 6.7-inch display.

Enter the Galaxy S25 Edge. It offers all that — plus an ultra-slim, beautifully engineered design — at the same $1,100 starting price as the S25+. Sure, Samsung trimmed down the battery and removed the dedicated zoom lens to make it happen, but those aren’t outright dealbreakers. That’s because the Edge isn’t just thinner — it brings a distinctive, stylish character to the lineup that sets it apart.

For those who crave both aesthetics and power in one sleek package, the S25 Edge confidently carves out its own identity in Samsung’s premium family. It’s not just slim — it’s smartly balanced.
